Palm: practical and handy
Palm, Incorporated is a manufacturer of U.S. convergence device based in Sunnyvale, California, who is best known for its namesake Palm Personal Digital Assistants or PDAs. The company started in computing back in 1992, having been founded by three veterans the computer industry. Its first product was to have been a PDA called the Zoomer, produced by the company and sold and marketed by Tandy through its electronic devices and retail stores, with an operating system from Geoworks, famous for GEOS on the Commodore 64. The Zoom was not a success, but the company was able to survive by making software for operating systems other remains companies.
The company began as a computer company in the year 1992, founded by three industry veterans computer. Its first product was to have been a personal digital assistant (PDA) called the Zoomer, produced by the company and sold and marketed by Tandy through its electronic unit and retail stores, with an operating system Geoworks, famous for GEOS on the Commodore 64. In 1995, U.S. Robotics Corporation acquired the company in 1997 and transformed it into a subsidiary of 3Com, U.S. Robotics, since it was acquired by 3Com. Not satisfied with the way things have been release, the company's founders left to start Handspring - which figure in their history once again at a later date. Meanwhile, 3Com has an independent subsidiary and listed on NASDAQ in March 2000. Unfortunately, market collapse infamous Dot-Bomb left the shares to a single $ 6.50 each just two years later.
In the second half of 2003, the physical division of the company merged with Handspring, and was renamed palmOne, Inc., corporate brand became the property a jointly owned holding company. However, in the second half of 2005, the company name back to the simple name, they are known for today Palm.
The intermediate years until 2007 saw many different products launches and corporate restructuring. So the rumors floating around of a possible sale until it was announced in June 2007 they had formed a strategic partnership with a firm Private Equity has bought 25 percent stakes in the company. The company left the PDA market just over a year later to concentrate on mobile smartphones, which generally comprise several, if not all, traditional PDA features such as daily planners. The company is betting smartphone on its exclusive supplier of mobile phone specific, which was published recently in the crowd.
It is a dispute legal relationship between the company and another well-known organization. The new phone is able to synchronize with a program that plays MP3s, but the program is only intended to be connected to the products of the same company. The rival company quickly released a software update required for the program that prevents access to the phone, which generated another successful attempt by the company access to the engineer.
